Privacy Policy

Introduction

COPY PASTA (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a Chrome extension that helps you extract order data from supported eBay and Amazon pages and send it to a Google Sheet you configure. This Privacy Policy explains what information the extension collects, how it is used, and your choices.

By using COPY PASTA, you agree to our Terms of Service and the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the extension.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use COPY PASTA, we may process the following data:

  • Google account information — When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, display name, and Google user ID through Google OAuth.
  • Order data from web pages — On supported eBay and Amazon order pages, the extension reads information visible on the page, such as order IDs, prices, taxes, and buyer name.
  • Sheet configuration — Spreadsheet URL, sheet name, column mapping, and related settings you enter in the extension.
  • Account status — Basic account information synced after sign-in to associate your Google account with the extension.
  • Send logs — Local records of sheet send attempts, including timestamp, status, and order ID.
  • Session preferences — Such as your last-used Google account label and automatic-send toggle.

We do not collect data for advertising, sell your personal information, or load remotely hosted extension code.

How we use your information

We use the information above to:

  • Authenticate you with Google and access Google Sheets on your behalf
  • Extract order fields from pages you open and format rows for your sheet
  • Store your configuration and accumulated order data between sessions
  • Associate your Google account with the extension after sign-in
  • Record local send history so you can review past sync attempts
  • Maintain your user record on our backend

Where data is stored

  • On your device (Chrome extension storage) — User profile, account cache, order session data, send logs, and some settings are stored in chrome.storage.local. Sheet URL, column mapping, and sync preferences may be stored in chrome.storage.sync when applicable.
  • Google OAuth tokens — Access tokens are managed by Chrome’s identity API and are not written to extension local storage.
  • Your Google Sheet — Order rows you send are written to the spreadsheet you configure, under your Google account.
  • Our backend (Google Cloud / Firebase) — After sign-in, your Google user ID, email, name, and account status may be stored in Firestore via our authSync service after sign-in.

Account status is cached locally for up to one hour to improve performance. If the backend is temporarily unavailable, the extension may rely on the last known cached value.

Third-party services

COPY PASTA interacts with:

  • Google — OAuth sign-in, user profile, and Google Sheets API to read/write your configured spreadsheet.
  • Google Cloud / Firebase — Hosted backend used to sync user account records after authentication.
  • eBay and Amazon — The extension reads data from pages you visit on those sites; we do not receive data directly from eBay or Amazon servers beyond what appears in your browser.

These services have their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review Google’s privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

Data sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal information. Data is shared only as needed to operate the extension:

  • With Google, to authenticate you and update your Google Sheet
  • With our backend, using your Google access token, to verify your identity and sync your account

We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users and the service.

Website analytics

Our marketing website at getcopypasta.com may use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site (for example, page views and clicks on “Add to Chrome”). This helps us improve the website. Google Analytics collects information such as pages visited, approximate location (country/region), device type, and referral source. We do not use website analytics to collect eBay or Amazon order data — that data stays in the extension and your Google Sheet as described above.

Google may process this data under its own privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out of Google Analytics using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Security

We use industry-standard practices through Google OAuth and HTTPS for backend communication. No method of transmission or storage is fully secure; use COPY PASTA only on devices you trust.

Your choices

  • Sign out — Clears your local session data from the extension.
  • Clear extension data — Remove stored configuration, logs, and cached orders from Chrome’s extension settings.
  • Uninstall — Removes the extension and its local data from your browser.
  • Revoke Google access — You can revoke the extension’s access in your Google Account permissions.

Data retention

Local extension data remains on your device until you clear it, sign out, or uninstall the extension. Server-side user records are retained while your account remains active or as needed to provide the service and comply with legal obligations.

Children’s privacy

COPY PASTA is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the latest version. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
